Chinese Consul General in Cape Town Ren Faqiang Attends South Africa's Labour Law Advocacy Session for Chinese Enterprises and Members of the Chinese Business Community in Cape Town

On 4 August, the Department of Employment and Labour of South Africa held a Advocacy Session for Chinese enterprises and members of the Chinese business community in Cape Town. Mr. Ren Faqiang, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Cape Town, Mr. Jomo Sibiya, Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour, and Mr. Solly Phetoe, General Secretary of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), attended the event and delivered remarks. More than 170 representatives of Chinese enterprises and the Chinese business community from the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Northern Cape participated in the session.

Consul General Ren highly commended the sustained contributions made by Chinese enterprises and the Chinese business community to South Africa's economic and social development. He stressed that the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in South Africa place great importance on promoting law-abiding and compliant business operations among Chinese enterprises and businesses. He expressed the hope that the session would enable participants to deepen their understanding of South Africa's legal and regulatory framework, and encourage them to set an example in conducting business and employing workers in strict compliance with local laws and regulations.

Officials from South Africa's Department of Employment and Labour and the Department of Home Affairs delivered presentations on labour laws and regulations, immigration compliance, and other related legal and regulatory issues.
